Something big is happening at the home of NZ loam, Rotorua. With a trail network that’s already creating gossip the World over and a super-engaged mountain bike community, Rotorua was already acknowledged as New Zealand’s most mountain bike-centric town. The opening of the new lift accessed Skyline Rotorua Gravity Park cemented it as the nation’s MTB capital.
But Rotorua is about to make a volcanic arrival on the global mountain bike scene when Crankworx Rotorua kicks off on March the 25th this year.
The world’s biggest mountain bike event is making its first appearance South of the equator and Roto is the venue. Crankworx Rotorua brings with it not only all of the hype, frothing crowds, and radness that it’s already famous for, but the added circus of the Enduro World Series.
It’s going to be huge and we’re absolutely amped to be right at the heart of it.
Mons Royale will be the title sponsor of the Mons Royale Dual Speed and Style at Crankworx Rotorua. The ultimate combination of technical skill and self expression on a mountain bike, dual speed and style is one of Crankworx marquee events. Described as the love child of dual slalom and freestyle it’s a window on the future of freeride creativity.
The Crankworx crew are currently building a sick course that includes features such as booster jumps, step-downs, boner logs and wooden drops, all culminating in a crowd-pleasing, hair-raising mixer of moto whoops and flat corners. Fastest down wins the speed points, but speed won’t trump style. Riders earn time credits for mid-race radness so expect flips, spins and seriously big tricks.
We’ll be up there all week to support our riders, show off our new SS16 bike range and kit you out in some shiny new merino gear. We may even get a ride or two in. See you there.
